Increase e-scooter range

Want to go further on a single charge? Here you'll find practical tips that work straight away - from correct charging and smart driving to model selection.

Why the range of an e-scooter is so important

Whether it's a commute, an after-work ride or a weekend trip: a reliable range makes your everyday life easier - fewer charging breaks, more flexibility and relaxed riding fun.

Pro tip: Range is never fixed - it depends on factors such as temperature, riding style, weight, incline and tire pressure.

7 tips to maximize your range

Tip 1:
Charge correctly & conserve the battery

  • If possible, keep the battery between 20-80% during everyday use.
  • Allow to cool down briefly after riding, then charge.
In winter, first bring the battery to room temperature (approx. 20 °C) and only then charge it.
  • Only charge your e-scooter at room temperature (between 15°C - 25°C) and avoid extreme temperatures.
  • For longer breaks (e.g. winter): charge the scooter to approx. 80% before storing it.

Tip 2:
Ride with foresight & at a constant speed

Less stop-and-go, accelerate gently and ride evenly uphill - this way you use the energy more efficiently.

Tip 3:
Reduce weight

It's not just your body weight that counts - your luggage does too. The decisive factor is the total weight (you + luggage), regardless of whether you carry it in your rucksack or attach it to the scooter. Only take what you really need.

  • Pack light: choose locks, tools etc. with as little weight as possible.
  • For longer tours: Plan compact water and snacks.
  • On climbs and in the cold, additional weight has a particularly strong effect on your range.

Tip 4: Check
tire pressure regularly

The correct pressure reduces rolling resistance and increases range. For VMAX scooters, we recommend 2.5-3.0 bar (with cold tires). Ideally, check the pressure weekly or before long journeys.

Important: Both too little and too much air are unfavorable.
  • Too little pressure: higher rolling resistance → less range, spongier handling, increased wear and risk of rim/shell damage.
  • Too much pressure: theoretically lower rolling resistance, but less grip (especially in the wet/sloping), longer braking distance, harder ride feel and uneven, faster tire wear.

Tip 5: Keep

e-scooters

clean & maintained

Clean, well-lubricated moving parts and intact bearings reduce friction. Regular checks pay off.

Important: Wearing parts (e.g. tires, brake components, bearings) must be replaced regularly depending on use. You can find suitable parts in our spare parts store.

Tip 6:
Select the right riding mode

Use Eco mode for maximum efficiency and range. Use Sport mode specifically for short passages - e.g. when overtaking, on inclines or in headwinds - and then switch back to Eco.

Frequently asked questions about the E-scooter range

How long does a battery last?

That depends on use and care. With good handling, one hundred(e) charging cycles without noticeable loss of capacity are common. Avoid frequent full/idle cycles and extreme temperatures.

What influences the range the most?

Riding style, speed, temperature, tire pressure, total weight (incl. luggage), terrain and altitude. Smooth, steady riding is the most effective.

Can the battery be replaced?

Yes, we stock all batteries in our spare parts store. Check the model compatibility there - or contact our service team via support.

Which tires are the most efficient?

Well-maintained tubeless tires with correctly adjusted pressure usually offer the best compromise between comfort, grip and range.
You can find a detailed comparison in the blog post "Tubeless vs. solid vs. pneumatic tires" .
Note: Off-road tires offer more grip off the road, but usually have a higher rolling resistance than road tires - the range may be slightly lower.

Conclusion: More range, more riding fun

If you keep an eye on battery care, tire pressure, riding mode and riding style, you will get noticeably more kilometers out of every charge. And with the right model, every journey becomes more relaxed.
